INFO
After nuclear attacks on U.S. cities, happiness and other emotions can no longer be produced naturally by humans; their brain chemistry has been severely altered due to nuclear fallout. The Integrated Borders Union, a new government near former Washington, D.C., works with local drug manufacturers to produce chemically-created emotions; these pills are part of the mandatory Pill Program for all citizens residing in the IBU. To those wandering the wasteland, they must survive the terrain and hungry groups of hunters. We go back and forth in time between Fern’s present, in which she resides in the Integrated Borders Union one year after the fallout, and Fern’s past, or what happened to her on the road a few months directly after the fallout.

Fern
Audrey Marie is thrilled to be joining the cast of Happy Pills in her MadLab debut! She has most recently appeared as Molly in Bowling Green State University’s production of Three Penny Opera. Past credits in Columbus include: CATS (Tantomile), [Title of Show] (Heidi), Urinetown (Little Sally) and Into the Woods (Little Red). All her love to her family for their endless support. Gma, this one’s for you. |
Enforcer
When Keith Jackson isn't investigating the Poison Program conspiracy at MadLab,* he spends much of his time voice-acting and podcasting with the IABD Presents network and recording audiobooks (under the name J. Keith Jackson). He was compelled to infiltrate Happy Pills, due to its psychotropic subject matter, despite his strong suspicion that it was a trap set by the new Artistic Director. *The saga has been unfolding in Jackson's MadLab program bios for the past two years. Collect them all! |
Assistant Director
Chase EuJene McCants has been surrounded by theater for most of his life. He performed with the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit’s Ensemble, National Touring Company, and Next Stage Company. When he came to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University, he performed in Identity (Ensemble), Your Handsome Captain (Wilnor Baptist), The Rocky Horror Show (Eddie), Inherit the Wind (Ensemble), and Dead Man Walking (Ensemble). Post college, Chase has been seen in Songs for a New World (Man 1), Dreamgirls (James “Thunder” Early), Jesus Christ Superstar (Judas), and It’s All Been Done Radio Hour. Chase has served as the director of the debut production of Full Exposure and assistant director for The Best Little Whore House in Texas. Check out his band So Long, Stargazer! |
Rose
Kristi has done a little of everything when it comes to performing - beauty (ahem! Scholarship) pageants, commercials, theater and even a gig as a Columbus Blue Jackets cheerleader. There comes a time when it's no longer appropriate to wear spandex to work, so she hung up the pom poms and has spent the last 8 years working on a Doctor of Naturopathy (don't worry, no one ever knows what that means) and career in alternative medicine. Kristi is excited to be a part of Happy Pills, and after recovering from the harsh reality that she is now cast as the "mom" to the 20 year-old ingenue, she's just hoping her return to the stage will make her 13 year-old son think she's cool again. |
Stage Manager
Colleen has been working in the Columbus theatre community for the past 3 years, and is so happy to be a part of the MadLab crowd. This is her third production with MadLab, and her first time Stage Managing. She is grateful to Dallas for trusting her with the role, although does question his judgement in doing so. Colleen is so excited to be working with such an impressive cast, and can't wait to see them make this show their own! |
Kerouac
Abigail Worden graduated Capital University in 2016 and has since been employed as an actor, stage manager, and theatre educator. Currently a member of Columbus Childrens’ Theatre’s touring company, her recent stage credits include Actors’ Theatre’s MACBETH (2nd Witch) and Warehouse Theatre’s BURIED CHILD (Shelly). She is forever grateful to her supportive family, wonderful friends, and D&D comrades. |
