10am to 12 noon

Picture
Blank Slate Theatre, Columbus’ home for theatrical, relationship-driven improvisation, focuses on authentic connection, grounded scenes, and meaningful characters. Our classes teach performers to build compelling onstage relationships and create funny, strange, or moving scenes rooted in emotional truth. Whether you’re an experienced improviser, an actor sharpening your instincts, or a curious beginner, Blank Slate helps you find your voice and use it with purpose. Take improv to a new level and grow as an actor, storyteller, and performer.
About the Class
Step onto the stage with nothing prepared—and discover how connection, creativity, and courage unlock not only great scenes but also a more authentic you. This 5-week Level 1 course at Blank Slate School of Improv is built around "The Improviser’s Wheel of Connection", a strong foundation for riveting improv. Whether you're new to improv or aiming to strengthen your skills as an actor in scripted or improvised theater, this experience will help you show up fully on stage and in life.

What You’ll Walk Away With:
- Confidence from trusting your voice, body, and instincts

- Increased presence that boosts focus, creativity, and relational awareness
- Improved communication—you’ll learn to listen deeply and respond authentically
- A solid creative foundation to build on in future training levels
- A sense of community with fellow players who are learning, stretching, and laughing alongside you

Whether you’re looking to perform, communicate more effectively, or just try something bold and new, Level 1 at the Blank Slate School of Improv is your starting point. No experience required—just bring yourself.

Ready to roll? Spots are limited to keep the experience intimate and the feedback immediate.  Say yes—and see where the scene takes you!

Young writers short Play Festival 2026

The Young Writers Program began in 2011 and the first Young Writers Short Play Festival in the summer of 2012 as a way to help high school students grow as artists and playwrights, gain professional theatrical experience, and develop critical thinking and editing skills that will help them in the future.

Now entering our 15th year, we have worked with over 100 local high school students producing their short plays. We would love to send a representative to speak to your students in person or via video conference about the Young Writers program!
