The Young Writers Program began in 2011, with the education program moving through the spring, and the first production in July of 2012. Since our first year, we have worked with high school playwrights from all across central Ohio. From working with playwright mentors to stage readings to production, the students in Young Writers enter the program with a script and conclude the program as produced playwrights. This year will be our 10th year of the program and we look forward to working with our new group of students!

submission guidelines
Content is open to the playwright - Comedy? Drama? Musical? Up to you!
- Maximum length is 10 pages*
- PDF or Word document
- All submissions should have the following:
- Title page (Play name, your name, your school name, your teacher’s name)
- Character description
- Set and prop needs
- *These do NOT count toward the 10 page limit!
- All submissions are due to by Sunday November 28, 2021
- To submit: click https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1v9u9CosK5Su1e6dIHnSgWBxYaEd7slyQ84rygv03Ncc/viewform?edit_requested=true, fill out the form, and then send your play (PDF or Word only) to submissions@madlab.net with your full name and the title of your play in the subject line.
- If submitting more than one, please attach all scripts to one email
- Scripts will be judged on originality, quality of writing, and production potential
