David Razowsky returns to MadLab to teach his masterclass based on his book, "A Subversives Guide to Improvisation, Moving Beyond 'Yes, And". Whether you're new to improv, a seasoned improviser, or you're an actor wanting to strengthen your acting skills these classes are for you. Your acting and improvisation will never be the same! Spaces fill up fast to don't wait. If you have questions email Brad Shimp at bshimp@me.com.
This weekend consists of four separate workshops focusing on the methodology in David Razowsky’s best-selling book, A Subversive’s Guide to Improvisation, Moving Beyond ‘Yes, And.’ All classes are limited to 16 participants. All four classes are $230, or if you want to only take a specific class or classes they are $65 each. Class 1- Saturday Get in Focus, Sat. 10:30am –1:30pm; $65 What are you focused on when you begin a scene? What great offers are you missing because you’re building a story instead of a relationship? Get in Focus will teach you how to use the power of their kinesthetic responses to build strong scenes the moment the scene starts. Recognize how your body tells you where to focus your attention, then build a great connection from there. Class 2 – Point of View, Sat. 2:30pm – 5:30pm; $65 It’s the bedrock of every relationship. You state your point of view, and your partner says theirs. Sounds easy, right? But how often are scenes derailed because the actors don’t hold onto their points of view or mindlessly add unnecessary details that throw the scene off course? Recognizing, maintaining, and evolving a point of view creates confident and exciting scenes. Class 3 – Stage Dynamics, Sun. 10:30am – 1:30pm; $65 Your awareness of the power of where you are on stage is vital to great scene work. The dynamics between you and your partner are defined not just by your dialogue but by where you are on stage when speaking. Each inch of that stage is there to help you better define your relationships, build tension, and make surprising discoveries. Explore the hidden treasures that lie beneath your feet. Class 4 – “How do I work with THAT?”, Sun. 2:30pm – 5:30pm; $65 Nowadays, there is more stage time than ever, which means more opportunities to perform - sometimes with great partners, sometimes with challenging ones. This in-person masterclass will help you create exciting scenes no matter what anyone tosses at you. Direct questions about the workshop to Brad Shimp at bshimp@me.com.
