The Breakdown Written by Rowan Henderson-Bernard Cast: Peter: Travis Horseman Cassandra: Kayla Theiss Directed by Corey Ragan Playwright: Rowan Henderson-Bernard This is Rowan's first year as a young writer! Although she has several years of experience as a stage crew member at Fort Hayes High School, this is her first time out from behind the curtain. She'd like to thank her parents and her English/Creative Writing teacher, Michael Saxon, for their unwavering support after all these years. She could not have done this without them. In her free time she enjoys working as a Starbucks Barista, being involved in various social justice movements and re--watching episodes of Lost. 
If I'd Never Found Him
Written by Charis Ellet Cast: Destiny: Kate Jones Chance: Ryan Blanchard Paramedic: Conor Moore Directed by Madeline Jobrack Playwright: Charis Ellet This is the first time that Charis has participated in a Madlab program and she had loved every bit of it! She has been acting in shows for as long as she can remember but didn’t start writing them until about 2 years ago. This past spring, her high school (Big Walnut) put on her own full length play titled “The Lives Between the Lines” which she also directed. She would like to thank her family, friends and mentor John for helping to make this experience so memorable and a great learning experience. 
Life Class
Written by Anna Rolinatis Cast: Professor: Dallas Ray James: Lance Atkinson Alex: Ashley Collins Sam: John Grote Emma: Aiyana Flint Noah: Daryan Arnold Directed by Mary Sink Playwright: Anna Rolinatis Anna is a senior at Hilliard Bradley High School. This is her third year as a young writer for MadLab. She's loved words and stories since she was old enough to talk, and plans to pursue an English degree at OSU in order to one day be a writer. 
Ghost Light
Written by Cassidy Byron Cast: Keagan: Conor Moore Directed by Tamara Boeck with Assistance from Adam Wheelbarger Playwright: Cassidy Byron Cassidy is a recent graduate of Dublin Coffman High School and plans to attend NYU's Tisch School for the Arts to study dramatic writing in the fall. The Young Writer's program has been an extraordinary and surreal experience, and she is blessed to have had the opportunity to see many different versions of each writer's show come to life onstage. She would like to thank Alyssa Shulman for introducing her to the MadLab scene and encouraging her to submit something to the Young Writers program (and being a wonderful editing eye for many a project). Enjoy the show! 
Ever After
Written by Taylor McGowan Cast: Lena: Frankie Diederich Allison: Kate Jones Isabel: Marguerite Strong Eliza: Colleen Kochensparger Frederick: Ryan Blanchard Directed by Kayla Theis Playwright: Taylor McGowan Taylor McGowan graduated from Columbus Academy in June. This is her second time participating in the Young Writers program at MadLab, and she’s absolutely thrilled to be back! She STILL cannot pick a favorite child among writing, music, and theatre, so she hopes to conveniently fuse these together one day by writing musicals. In September, she’ll begin pursuing her BFA in Theatre at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. She’d like to thank her parents for supporting and transporting her (since she’s still too terrified to drive).

All We Need is Warmth Written by Sanskruti Admane and Chandra Bista Story by Chandra Bista, Karuna Sanyasi, and Tika Dhital Cast: Maya: Kiki Baker Sika: Dalia Natour Yam: Daryan Arnold Mukti: Rah Imani Policeman 1: Andy Woodmansee Policeman 2: Nikhil Mikhija Directed by Meg Mateer with Assistance from Becky Horseman Playwrights: Sanskruti Admane Sanskruti has enjoyed creative writing for most of her life, but this is her first time writing a play for Young Writers. Outside of writing, Sanskruti enjoys music, math and physics, as well as long bike rides. She would like to thank her teachers, friends and family for supporting her in this journey. Chandra Bistra My name is Chandra Bista and I am 18 years old. I am from country of Nepal. I am a senior at Northland High School. After school I do my homework and enjoy day with family. I heard about young writers from my friend. 
Beneath the Stars
Written by Meghan Tarney Cast: Ruthie: Marguerite Strong Olivia: Aleksa Kaups Directed by Lane Schlichter with Assistance from Addie Peele Playwright: Meghan Tarney This is Meghan’s second time participating in the Young Writers Short Play Festival. She’s so grateful for the opportunity to see her words on stage. Besides for creative writing, which she’s loved since she was a kid, Meghan enjoys reading, astronomy, history, and wasting entire days playing the Sims. In the fall, she plans to attend The Ohio State University, where she will major in English to pursue her longtime goal of publishing a novel. She’d like to thank her mentor Jason, her English teacher Mr. Penzone, her family, and Harry Potter. 
Job Interview
Written by Derek Smith Cast: Heather: Mary Sink Johnny: Kevin Colgan Directed by Susie McGarry with Assistance from Addie Peele Playwright: Derek Smith This is Derek's first year as a young writer. He's an active member of his high school's theatre troupe. He'd like to thank nobody because he's gotten where he is based on his own skills and killer instinct (joke). He hopes that everyone enjoys the shows, but if you don't it's fine, you already paid.

Written by Maddie Conley Cast: Susie: Kiki Baker Terrie: Frankie Diederich Directed by Cat Cryan Playwright: Maddie Conley This is Maddie’s third year working with the Young Writers program, and she couldn’t be more excited for Young Writers 2018! Maddie plans to attend the Ohio State University and major in English, so catch her in the library burying herself slowly but steadily in literature books. Maddie’s other talents include cocktail party small talk and identifying flowers. Maddie would like to thank her parents for always believing in her, Hannah Woods for always editing her work, and the workers at the Dublin Perimeter Starbucks, who always graciously ignore her furious writing in the corner.

Written by Lily Herold Cast: Olive: Aleksa Kaups Alice: Aiyana Flint Olive's Puppeteer: Sam Clements Alice's Puppeteer: Lance Atkinson Directed by Tay Lane with Assistance from John Quigley Playwright: Lily Herold Throughout her years in high school, Lily has dabbled in various theatrical pursuits, including (but not limited to) authoring, acting, and observing from the audience. When she goes off into the great world of College, she plans to continue writing in some form or another - be that form plays, prose, or possibly just mindless scrawl on the backs of envelopes. When she's not madly scribbling at her desk, Lily enjoys unicycling, endures running, and indulges in avocado toast. She extends her deepest gratitude to MadLab for affording her this unconventional authorship opportunity.
