Synopsis
Danielle has survived a shocking act of workplace violence; her quiet older co-worker Jimmy has not. A small act in his final moments becomes a clue that sets Danielle off on a quest on his behalf, sending her down a rabbit hole of secrets, lies, and questions about her own place in the moral universe – and the state of the moral universe itself.
You Have Earned Bonus Stars is a comedy about tragedy, an exploration of the judgement we all face – from the great beyond, from each other, and from ourselves.

cast and crew
Jessica Gibson (Danielle)
Jessica is excited to be back on the MadLab stage as Danielle. Much like Danielle, Jessica has the occasional nightmare where people are plotting her demise. Except hers aren't so much people as they are things like the Crypt Keeper, a steep hill, and a sharp-toothed version of that cartoon worm with glasses and a graduation cap. You know the one. |
Susie McGarry (Beverly)
Susie McGarry first performed with MadLab in 2017 as part of Theater Roulette. Since then she has helped coordinate MadLab's Young Writers Program, continued to act, directed, and done sound design. Around town Susie has appeared onstage with XX Sketch, O.G. Productions, eMBer Women's Theatre, Curtain Players, Mine 4 God Productions and Available Light Theatre. |
Kasey Meininger (Female Ensemble)
Kasey Leah Meininger is thrilled to be back at MadLab with this fabulous cast. You may have caught her in their summer Roulette in 2019 or in Until He Wasn't which with both a little "murdery". Other previous highlights include SRO's The Bridges of Madison County and August Osage County-yep, both with county in the name. And Available Light Theater's You Got Older and Revolt, She Said. Revolt Again; these were less murdery but someone died in one of them. Or as a villain in Actor's Theatre's The Countess of Monte Cristo and The Tempest. So you kind of get her whole thing. She would like to thank her incredibly patient husband Erik for never running out of love, her brilliant daughter Linnea for being her everything, and Will Macke for being a light in the wilderness. You have to print that, Will. Break legs all!! |
Tyreese Bowman (Victor)
Tyreese Bowman is making his MadLab debut as Victor in You’ve Earned Bonus Stars. Tyreese, a graduate from Capital University, studied both Business Management and Theater Studies and has been performing since the age of 12. He’s had the opportunity to perform locally, collegiately and international. When he’s not on stage he’s working with nonprofits, doing yoga and spending time with friends and family. |
Michelle Sandler (Assistant Director/Stage Manager)
Michelle Sandler is beyond thrilled to be back as a behind the scenes part of YHEBS as assistant director and stage manager. Michelle has been a shapeshifter- I MEAN ACTOR, for many years, and it excited to be a part of the Madlab family. Michelle hopes you love this show and appreciates all the hard work and effort from the actors and the production team. She thanks her IT coworkers for always being supportive (and only kind of being schmucks), her partner who keeps her upright and fed, and her cat for waking her up every morning at 3 am. |
Katie Palcsak (Director)
A rabbi, a priest and an imam walk into a play…it is this play. It’s exciting to be back creating live theatre for Columbus again; Katie is beyond pleased to bring You Have Earned Bonus Stars to life with this amazing team of creatives. Although this is Katie’s first time directing a full-length play at MadLab, she is no stranger to directing, or to MadLab. Katie is on the MadLab ensemble, and recent credits at the Lab include directing for the 24 Hour Social Distanced Theatre festival and Young Writers. Katie also enjoys acting, and was most recently seen in MadLab’s The Part of Me and OGP’s Socially Distanced Theatre Festival. Incorporating music and sound into the experience of a live production is a huge passion of Katie’s. She hopes you leave here with your senses, mind, and emotions engaged. Namaste! |
