Synopsis
Snowville Cafe
A World Premiere
Snowville Cafe tells the story of the life of a thriving Bronzeville District restaurant in
Columbus, OH spanning 45 years from 1970 through 2015. Juxtaposed with the story
of a slowly dying 35-year marriage of Matt and Dell, leaving the audience to wonder if they will
be able to overcome decades of hurt and neglect to save their marriage and their life's work.

Julie Whitney Scott (Playwright)
Julie is an Indiana native, is a graduate of Franklin University of Ohio and an Ohio playwright, author, poet, free-lance writer, director, producer, actor, radio producer and host at WGRN and the founder of Mine 4 God Productions theatre company and the Columbus Black Theatre Festival held annually in July in Columbus, OH. Julie has had several short-plays, full length stage plays and musicals produced. She has also received the Central Ohio Theatre Roundtable Harold Award in 2019 for her contributions towards bringing diversity in theatre in Ohio and beyond. Julie has also been nominated for Excellence in a Leading Role and has taught as a Resident Teaching Artist in Columbus, OH for several theatre companies throughout the years. |
Wilma Hatton (Delphine)
Wilma Hatton has been involved with the Columbus theatre community for over 20 years. She was recently seen in productions with Tipping Point Theater, CATCO, and Actors Theater. She has done film, commercials, as well as voiceovers. She is very delighted to be a part of this new production of “Snowville Cafe”with Madlab! |
Ricardo Jones (Matthew)
A veteran actor, having performed on stage for 30 plus years. Shows include ZOOMAN AND THE SIGN, JITNEY, KING HEDLEY, BLACK NATIVITY and FRATERNITY, STIFF COMPETITION, BOY to name a few. Self proclaimed "The Laurence Fishburne of Columbus (by looks only). He is looking forward to getting on the stage even more now that he has free time. |
Jaymi Horn (Estelle)
Jaymi is incredibly excited to join this company for this wonderful production. She is a resident of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. She attended Ohio Northern University where she received her B.F.A in Musical Theatre. After that, she completed her internship at New Stage Theatre in Jackson, Mississippi. Some of her notable credits include, Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ms. Honey in Matilda, Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors, Jasmine in Pipeline and Althea Gibson in Althea and Angela. She was also seen in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Ring of Fire, and A Christmas Carol. She is thankful for the unwavering support of her family and friends. |
Julia Niedzwiecki (Jasmine)
Julia Niedzwiecki Zucker is proud and excited to be a part of Snowville Cafe. Julia has been involved with theater since she was a little girl, fondly remembering her first role as Toto in her 1st grade class’s version of The Wizard of Oz. More recently she performed as Annie in Evil Dead the Musical and assisted with tech for MadLab’s Theater Roulette last season. She is a Teaching Artist and Educator, and is an active member of local Columbus singing group, InCommon A Cappella. |
Gerald "Ro" Sinclair (Bobby Sr.)
Gerald "Ro" Sinclair is excited to return to the stage post covid to play the role of Bobby in MadLab's production of SunnyVille Cafe! This past year, he starred in Jasymn Green's independant movie, The Domino Effect playing the character Ronald Williams. During Covid he particpated in the Vineyard Eas Performing Arts Ministry in its first ZOOM production entitled "It's Not About Me...But It's All about You!;" a Easter production taking a modern day approach on the passion; where he played Julian Jones. He previously played the role as Judas in The Passion play performed with the same ministry in 2019. In 2018 he played the supporting role(s) of Wayne & ensemble in the Imagine Production of Dreamgirls. Some other memorable roles he has played was Muhammad Ali (VietRock) and The Lion.(The Wiz)He is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a BA in Theater & Video Productions. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing sports with his kids, watching movies, performing and spending time with family. He is truly grateful for the opportunity. |
Jim Azelvandre (Stranger)
Jim Azelvandre has been involved with MadLab since 2004 as an actor, director and playwright. He is honored to play a small part in bringing Julie's vision to life. As a Columbus native, Jim is always extremely happy to see a local playwright writing about people in our city. Please support local artists. They are an essential and always needed component to any healthy community. |
Nikhil Makhija (Customer)
Nikhil is originally from Columbus, majored in theatre at Wittenberg University. He has acted for MadLab in Young Writer Festival 2021 (Grave Digger/ Person 1/Brandon/ Evan) and Rudolf the Rednosed (Charlie in the Box/ Footman/ Elf/ Reindeer), for Out Of The Box Community Theatre in The Game’s Afoot (Simon Bright), for Catco in Our Voices (Wahid), Stage Right Theatrics in Onion Domes (Father Michael), Mine 4 God Productions (M4GP) in Casting Call (Tony), and in collaboration with Mine 4 God Productions (M4GP) & State of the Arts Productions of A Very Special Holiday (Father, Manager, Sam Bunny, Mr. Allison). |
James Blackmon, Director
James is especially happy to be back directing again at Mad Lab because this will be his first production as the newly named Interim Artistic Director of Mad Lab. An award-winning actor, director and producer, and award nominated music director, James has participated in numerous theatrical productions over the last 44 years. Outside of performing, James is also active in the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) and the Central Ohio Theatre Roundtable, an organization for which James has previously served as president for 3 years. |
